Design

HTC Desire 816 is a striking smartphone, especially in some of its bolder and beautiful colors. Color tones of this smartphone are selected very carefully by the company so that along with  giving a bright look it also have a hint of pastel to avoid becoming outright garish. Because of its amazing colors, it looks quite stylish.

There’s a mix of glossy and matt finishes on this phone. This smartphone seems to be phone’s higher-end brother of HTC One Max.

It is slimmer and lighter than Max. The HTC Desire 816 has 7.99mm thickness and 165g weight which is a massive 50g-plus lighter and more than 2mm thinner.

Display

HTC Desire 861 has a 5.5 inches display screen with capacitive touch. It has a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels with 267ppi pixel density which provides it a pretty good sharpness.

Processor

This smartphone is powered by 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core processor. It has 1.5 GB RAM with 8 GB internal storage memory. It has a microSD card slot also to expand the internal storage memory upto 128 GB by inserting an external memory card.

Software

HTC Desire 816 runs on Android operating system. It has Java support also.

Cameras

Unlike the other smartphones of Desire series, HTC Desire 816 does not have an UltraPixel camera. In place of this, it uses a normal camera with a higher resolution, 13 mega pixels sensor and an LED flash. This much high resolution will definitely get you very much detailed photos in sunlight. But its performance under low light are still under question mark.

The camera uses an f/2.2 lens which is fairly fast.
One thing that is really notable in this smartphone is its front camera. It has a high resolution 5 mega pixels front camera which is very unusual. This much resolution of front cameras was seen only in Huwaie smartphones. But it seems like other companies are now following Huwaie. And very soon this will become a norm.
