On November 14,1889 a son was born to an eminent lawyer Motilal Nehru . People named him Jawaharlal . Jawaharlal Nehru did his M.A from Cambridge ,England . At that time Britishers were ruling over India . So when Jawaharlal Nehru returned to India, he realized that he wanted to help the poor people . He also took part in struggle for freedom and he also became follower of Mahatma Gandhi ,  who had just returned from South Africa at that time . Because of Nehru’s love and affection towards children, children started calling him Chacha Nehru .  Chacha is a Hindi word which means a very close relationship . Chacha Nehru was fond of children and roses as well . Even he made a comparison between both . He said that children are like buds in a garden  . They should be nurtured carefully and with love as they are the citizens of tomorrow and future of the nation.

Children Day celebrations

As a tribute to this great men and by seeing his love and affection towards children , his birthday is celebrated as ” Children Day ” all over the India . He remained a friendly spirit , befriending children , laughing with them , tossing roses , singing songs , and dancing with them . Most schools have cultural programs for the day  ” Children Day ” , managing it all by the students .  Many institutions also have various competitions among students even at state level , institution level or national level . Even the staff members of the school also perform dance or many activities for their students this day . Thus this is the day to honor children and Jawaharlal Nehru on his birthday across the country.  Many government departments , non-governmental institutions , corporate institutes announce various schemes .  For children Children Day is a day to celebrate and have fun . Children’s film fests are also organized on Children Day.  Activities made for children  are the main attraction of Children Day. The first ever Children Day was celebrated in 1954.  His love and passion towards children is the reason why we celebrate 14  November as Children Day .
