Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest android in the market launched by the Google in the market. This Android version will be launched in the Google LG Nexus 5 for the first time and the updates will be available in the older Android smartphones which are capable of being updated.

It was expected that Google will launch Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie as their new Android version. But as always, shocked all predictors and rumors when it launched Android 4.4.

Release Date

There were many rumors about the release date of the Android 4.4 and the launch of Google LG nexus 5. But finally it launched its device containing Android 4.4 on 31 October 2013. The device was launched silently by a simple blog. Not even a single launch event was organized by the company.

Android 4.4 is brought in the market by keeping in mind that the update to the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, named Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was not much successful as expected.   1. Multitasking: This is already present in all the Android devices, but Google has claimed that it is even better in KitKat. This is because of memory optimization and improved quality of touch screen.
  2. Printing: The users can now take out the print outs of their pictures directly from their Android phones and tablets. Any printer can be connected to the device but it should have an app in the Google Play Store.
  3. Google Drive: Now it is pretty easier to transfer your files to the Google Drive because there is an option of transferring your files to Google Drive by just a single click. You can even transfer your data from apps like QuickOffice to Google Drive.
  4. Bluetooth MAP Support: KitKat has feature of supporting Message Access Profile. By using it you can exchange your messages with the devices having Bluetooth connectivity.
  5. Immersion Mode: This is considered as the most commendable and promising feature of the Android 4.4 KitKat. By this feature you can turn your phone into full screen mode by omitting the extra tool bars. And you can enjoy a better experience of surfing and playing games.
  6. Low-Power Audio Playback: Android 4.4 Kitkat provides extra battery back up and Audio Playback. It is of 60 hours on Nexus 5 and may be more in some other devices when upgraded to Android 4.4. This feature is possible due to the audio tunneling to the Digital Signal Processor.
